The active ingredient of Eurax Cream is crotamiton, a medicine which effectively relieves

pruritis or itchy skin. Each application of the cream can provide up to 10 hours of relief from itchiness. This medicine is useful when used for the itchiness caused by scabies after treatment with anti-parasitic medicine.

What are the benefits of using Eurax Cream?

Eurax Cream, which contains the active ingredient crotamiton, is effective in relieving itchiness that is associated with scabies and other skin conditions. It works best in relieving itchiness after treatment with antiparasitic medicine that leaves the skin itchy even after controlling the condition.

How do I use Eurax Cream?

Eurax Cream is for use on the skin only. This medication should not be taken by mouth. Avoid letting the cream get into the eyes, face, mouth, vagina, and other parts of the skin that is raw, inflamed, or oozing with fluid.

Shake the bottle of Eurax before using.

For the treatment of scabies, take a bath or a shower before applying the cream. Remove first the crusted or scaly skin by rubbing gently. Dry with a towel. Apply a thin layer of the cream on the affected area of the skin, then massage gently from the chin down to the toes, particularly the skin creases or folds, the areas between the fingers and toes, and on the soles of the feet.

Trim your fingernails short before you apply the cream. Mites can live under the fingernails. Apply the cream under the fingernails using a toothbrush. After application, wrap the toothbrush you used in applying the cream and toss it. Never use the toothbrush in your mouth because it could result in poisoning.

Repeat the application of the cream after 24 hours. The next morning after application of the cream, change your clothing, bed sheets, and towels. Wash all clothing and bedding that you used for the past three days before you start your treatment. Use hot water in your laundry and dry the items in the clothes dryer. The aim is to kill the mites that caused the scabies and prevent them from coming back.

Take a bath or a shower some 48 hours after your last application of the cream in order to remove the medication from your skin.

To treat other skin conditions other than scabies, apply a thin layer of the cream and massage gently on the affected areas until the cream is fully absorbed. Repeat as directed by your doctor or as needed, which could be twice or thrice daily.

Ask your doctor to prescribe other medications for the relief of itching once the scabies have been treated. Itching may persist for some more weeks.
